Practical advice before your trip

Practical advice before your trip

Health

It is advisable not to drink tap water. Instead, drink mineral or carbonated water in a hermetically sealed bottle. Don't forget to take your usual medicines with you (aspirin, anti-diarrhoea, etc.).

There are no compulsory vaccinations for travellers, but it is advisable to be up to date with tetanus, hepatitis A and B, and rabies if you plan to hike off the beaten track.

If you have diarrhoea, avoid fruit and fatty foods. Stick to a simple diet: bread, biscuits, rice, bananas and boiled eggs.

Sunburn and sunstroke are a constant threat. Limit your exposure, wear a hat and sunglasses, and regularly apply a suitable sun cream.
